All of us started out with dreams and aspirations when we were younger. Then as we grew up life may have beat us up…we may have failed, suffered heartache, been burdened by responsibilities and so on. I want to help you identify your ideal life and unearth those powerful and amazing dreams and aspirations from long ago. Clearly identifying the life you want to live is the foundation of creating your best life.

It may seem overwhelming to think about the dreams that you had for your life, which is why I want all of you to benefit from the 6-step process to identify and get the life you want as I have in my life. This will give you a simple plan of how to identify and get the life you have always wanted by implementing simple steps that work.

Rather than starting out by thinking of running your own business we are taking a step back to identify what you want your life to look like…how busy, how stressed, how you want to feel, all of these different elements and from there you can identify the kind of business that fits with the life you want to live. Instead of running out and starting a business, and then trying to fit your life around that business.

I had a very personal experience with identifying and getting what I want out of life, and I am still living this process today. I was a new dad and newly married and I was MISERABLE. The money was great, the people I was working with were great, but I was completely drained every day. I would leave the house at 5:30 in the morning to do P90X with a group of co-workers every morning. Then we would head to the office and work an extremely stressful and unfulfilling day. By the end of the day I did not have any mental and emotional energy left for my new wife and my new daughter who I loved more than anything. During that time I started thinking…there has to be a different way, there has to be a way that I can find more fulfillment in my life, there has to be a way to support my newly growing family without being drained every day. We are taught that we have to go to work and be responsible, but I knew that there must be a better way.

During a Vision Quest for the Native American spiritual path I follow I made a prayer for my life. As I was quiet in my prayer connecting with my creator the idea of becoming a full time Beachbody Coach came to me, and I knew in my heart that it was the right path for me and my family. What I wanted became very clear to me…I wanted to be a father who is present for his kids, who is at their events, coaching their teams and really part of their everyday lives. I also wanted to have financial freedom and the freedom of time.

When I came home from my Vision Quest I wrote down my vision and how it would look and feel in great detail. Even though at the time it seemed inconceivable, I still wrote it all down and thought through every detail. Once I had written my vision for my life down, I followed the steps that I outline below, and that is how I have gotten to where I am today. From the soul I can truly say that I am living the life that I envisioned for myself during my Vision Quest several years ago, and when I feel like I’m getting off track I come back to my vision and go through these steps again and again.

6 Steps to Identify the Life You Want and How to Get Started:

  1. Set aside a chunk of time (at least 30 minutes) and find a quite space where you will not be distracted.
  2. Visualize life at the highest level with no limits on your thinking. What are you doing? Who are you with? How do you feel? Think of this as an adventure.
  3. Think about what type of person would live the life that you visualized. How/what would this person:
    • Think?
    • Do?
    • Act?
    • Feel?
  4. Think about the 5 quadrants of your life (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial), and reflect on where you are now in each of these areas. If 10 is the highest level, are you close to a 10 in these areas?
  5. For each of the words great lives are created on listed below reflect on what they mean to you and how you can incorporate each word into your daily life.
    • Gratitude
    • Compassion
    • Discipline
    • Fortitude
    • Courage
    • Consistency
    • Love
  6. Now that you have identified what you want your life to look and feel like, and some things that you can do to get the life of your dreams, break it down to your FIRST STEP. What will you do right away to start moving towards the dream life that you visualized in step #3?
