Sometimes all it takes is changing one word and it can shift the paradigm that we see things through. When our paradigms shift, our life shifts!
In todays episode of Mindset Monday I talk about our ability as human beings to change our current lot in life and create the life we want… You’re not a TREE so MOVE!
Today’s episode is a quick little piece of advice on how to quickly move your energy and getting rolling for the week.
When we hear about the Fork In The Road metaphor, we usually think about some BIG choice that we are going to be faced with. Do we chose this road or that road and the resulting outcome that will effect the rest of our lives..
Todays episode is about the small, seemingly insignificant forks in the road we come to throughout our days and the importance of choosing the right fork!
Today we are talking about the secret to success. Everybody thinks that success and success principles are a complicated thing, it’s a foreign thing, it’s a mystical thing, it’s a thing that we don’t understand. And I want to outline two principles this morning.
The first principle is, it all starts with your mindset. Are you a “glass is half empty” or “glass is half full” person? Do you believe that whatever it is that you’re out there to achieve for yourself is available to you? If you do, it is. If you don’t, it’s not. It really is as simple as that. So, secret to success number one, what you believe is going to 100% become true and become your reality. If you believe in yourself, you believe in success, you will get that success.
Second thing that I want to talk about is success isn’t fancy. It isn’t this mystical thing. Success is disciplined action. Simple disciplined things done over and over and over. If you want to be successful in a sport, if you want to be successful on a diet, if you want to be successful in your relationships, in your marriage, with your kids, in your business. Whatever it is that you’re looking to be successful with, it’s a few simple things in that area done over, and over, and over. It’s having the fortitude, it’s doing the simple little thing.
My message to you today is about the big, beautiful, bold dream that’s inside of you and is not going away.
In today’s episode of Mindset Monday we’re talking about accountability partners. An Accountability Partner is much different than a coach, a teacher, a mentor, or a leader that you’re following. An accountability partner is somebody that is where you are and wants to go where you wanna go.
In this episode of Mindset Monday, we’re talking about not quitting one thing, but replacing it with another. So many times we have things in our lives that we don’t want anymore.
The easiest way to discontinue a habit you don’t want to continue, is to replace it with a better habit. If we focus on discontinuing, we’re still focusing on that habit, we’re still giving that habit energy. If we’re focused on not doing something change is difficult. It’s easier to move through something if you’re focused on doing something else.
In this Mindset Monday I talk about your Achilles heel. You’re most likely getting prepared for 2016, you’re setting your goals, you’ve got your vision, you’ve got the things you want to accomplish. Well guess what? So do a lot of other people. And guess what? Most people don’t accomplish what they set out to accomplish.
That is why today we’re talking about your Achilles heal, that thing that’s going to take you out. Or those things that are going to take you out. So focus and get crystal clear on what it is that you want to accomplish in the certain realms of your life, but then take a step back and say, “What’s going to take me out? What are the different things that have taken me out in the past? What are the things that will pull me away from this goal?” And then I want you to develop a plan for the things that are gonna take you out.
Welcome to today’s episode of Mindset Monday. Keith here, your host and today we’re talking about enjoying the moment. Quick story, when I was 24 – 23-24 years old, a business partner and myself, we were trying to do one of two things; we were trying to either open a gym or buy an existing gym. And we were looking at smaller gyms, so not like these big massive gyms. A smaller gym cause that’s where we were comfortable, that’s where we wanted to start out. But during the process we were just so busy in trying to make it happen, excited about whats gonna happen when the gym opens, when this happens, when that happens.
And we had a mentor who was guiding us along the way, he was somebody who, like a tough mentor right? He would look at the business plan and literally he would read it, take it back – just throw it back at us and would be like, “Don’t come back to me until it’s done right.” Like that type of mentoring. That’s what I like in a mentor, that’s what I wanna see in a mentor, that’s what’s going to get me excited or that’s what’s gonna drive me. I don’t want the candy coated stuff.
Halfway through the process of going to open up these gyms, we were so engulfed in what it’s going to be like when it happens, so engulfed in making it happen. He sat me and my business partner down and he said, “Guys, I wanna tell you one of the most important lessons in life, enjoy the moment. Enjoy the process. And don’t think that the end goal is getting the gym, opening the gym, whatever it may be – buying a new gym. The goal in life is to enjoy the moments that lead up to the thing that you’re trying to accomplish.”
So friends, as you’re going through your life, as you’re going through your day, as you’re going through things that you want to get to, enjoy the process, enjoy the moment. Another quick story along the exact same lines, I had a friend who on Wednesday nights it’s his night with one of his daughters and this is what they usually read on that Wednesday night. And this particular Wednesday night his daughter was just stalling, like they usually go into a room, they have their own time together, they read and his daughter was stalling. And he was trying to force her along, trying to get her to the room because that’s what you’re supposed to do on Wednesday nights. “I read with my daughter,” he’s a good father, a good husband, he’s committed the time to do that.
And then it occurred to him that he was rushing to get somewhere but the moment, the purpose was enjoying the time with his daughter, little two or three year old daughter. The moment of walking up the stairs with her, of laughing, of tickling each other and that’s what the daughter wanted. Cause she knew how to enjoy the moment. The moments of your life, don’t get too caught up in the destination. Enjoy the moments.
Have a beautiful, beautiful week.
Welcome to today’s episode of Mindset Money. Keith here, and today we’re talking about meditation for the non meditators. So if you’re like me, meditation did not work at first. I got really uncomfortable, I got anxious, I did not like to sit still and it was because I really didn’t understand how to do it. And I wanna break it down for you and keep it super simple so you understand and you can actually start today, meditating.
First thing is meditation can be broken down in two parts. The first part is focusing, and the second part is observing. So for focusing, you can do anything that allows you to really focus in. Maybe it’s writing, maybe it’s colouring, singing, maybe it’s a traditional meditation technique like focusing on your breath or looking at a candle, or focusing on something outside.
But the most important thing here is you’re doing just one thing. And the purpose of the focus part is it allows the chatter to slow down. During this focus part your mind is going to wander, it is going to go all over the place, and your job is just to gently bring it back without judging yourself to that thing you’re focusing on. Meditation is not about stopping your mind, stopping your thoughts. It’s about returning to a single focus, and that’s what we’re training our mind to do. We’re training our mind to focus on one thing.
The second part is observing, so once your mind slows down a little bit, and you may not get to this for six months. You may spend the first six months meditating, just focusing. But once you get to the point that your mind starts to slow down, then you allow your focus to broaden a little bit. So we’re not tunnel vision now, now we start to broaden a little bit and we start to feel our feelings, we start to feel our body, we start to see the different thoughts that are coming up.
And eventually your mind will start racing again and then you bring it back to focus. So again, we’re talking about two things; we’re talking about starting with focus on one single thing. Once your mind slows a little bit, you expand into observing all around you, then it’ll start racing, start going crazy, you bring it back to that single focus. One other thing that I just wanted to state with this is start with like three minutes. Commit to three minutes a day for a week or two, and watch how much your life starts to improve, and then move up from there. Move up slowly from there.
But the number one thing is the consistency over time, and then you’re gonna start to receive all those benefits that you hear about through meditation.
Have a beautiful day.
Welcome to the very first episode of Mindset Monday. Super excited to be bringing this to you! Every Monday morning we’re going to be talking about the different mindset techniques or the different mindsets that I’ve cultivated and created and the fundamentals that I’ve really based my life off of through all the different mentors, guides, and teachers that I’ve had the luxury and the privilege to have in my life.
Today I want to talk about working harder on you than you do on your job, than you do as a parent, than you do as a husband, as a wife, as a business owner, as a leader, whatever it may be. And what do we mean by this? So many times we get caught up in what we need to do. Like, the laundry needs to be folded, the kids need to be brought here, this needs to be done, the phone calls have to be returned, the emails have to be returned, the deadlines have to be hit.
And we get in this repetitious zone, this repetitious way of life and we’re just constantly putting out these fires. And when we do this, our own personal care, and our own personal development gets put on the side.
This philosophy of life, working harder on yourself than you do on everything else, what does that mean?
That means working hard with your fitness, working hard with clearing out any emotional things that need to be healed, working hard with a therapist, working hard with a mentor, working hard with a guide, sitting down having conversations with those people that you need to have conversations with, and growing as a person. Working harder on yourself, you as a person, that internal work to become the person that you need to become to do the things that you wanna do in life.
If we want something to change, if we want to do more, be more, get more, receive more of all the beauty that life has to offer, we have to become more. In order to become more, we have to work harder on ourselves than we do on everything else.
