To start and grow a successful business of any type requires the love and support of those closest to you. So, I wanted to spend a bit of time talking about how to handle friends, a spouse, or family members who don’t support you in your Beachbody business. If you’re considering becoming a Beachbody Coach and you started to talk to a few other people about it, and received some pushback, this post is for you.

My friends, family or spouse don't support my Beachbody Business

My friends, family or spouse don’t support my Beachbody Business

I’m going to start by saying that this is sort of a loaded question, and it’s very possible that I’ll ruffle a few people’s feathers with my answer. The first thing I would suggest is to ask your friends, family, or spouse to read my blog post about the pyramid scheme myth. In all my years doing this, I’ve found this myth to be one of the most common judgments made against people interested in signing up for the Beachbody business opportunity.

Another point that may ruffle a few feathers is that if you have a healthy relationship with whomever it is in your life who’s being unsupportive, ask them if they can give you three months or six months to try this business out. It’s a fair and reasonable request, and it will also give you some time to get your new Beachbody business up and going. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons why they don’t want you to start a new business, like if there’s concern your new Beachbody Coaching business is going to take time away from the kids or you want to get it started but you don’t have the extra cash needed to sign up. Making this offer can uncover the real reason behind the resistance or can help to facilitate an agreement between you and your friends, family, or spouse to give it a try.

Ultimately, I would recommend having a real conversation with them where you let them know that it’s something that you’re passionate about, that it’s something that you’re excited about, and that you really want to do it. Even if you don’t agree – here’s another ruffling of feathers part – if it’s a healthy relationship, they should honor and respect your decision to try it. And if they don’t honor and respect your decision to try it, it could be something deeper.

There are only so many things we can fix. And there are only so many things I can address about the Beachbody business opportunity. Hopefully, a direct, open conversation will lead to a better, more supportive place for you and the friends, family, and spouse in your life who are hesitant to support your new Beachbody business.
