Sometimes I overlook the potential and the gift that living life as a full-time Independent Beachbody Coach provides. I sometimes forget what life was like before I was a Coach. It’s crazy how fast our past can disappear from memory and become just that, the past. I want to share with you a little bit about how AWESOME (I think that word describes it best) being a Beachbody Coach is, what life is like for me and my family, and what we do on a daily basis. Before delving into that though, it’s important to understand that life wasn’t always this rosy for us.
Life as a Beachbody Coach
From Bankruptcy to Million Dollar Beachbody Coach
The day I first became a full time Beachbody Coach, I was also in the process of filing for a personal bankruptcy. I’m a manly-man kind of guy, the type of guy who wants to be the supporter for his family – financially, physically, emotionally, mentally. Filing for a personal bankruptcy was NOT how I had things planned out in my mind for how my life was going to go. I was newly married and we had just had our first daughter. I was filing for bankruptcy because the previous business I owned failed and left me with over $250,000 in personal debt that I signed for. There was no other way out and it was the most embarrassing thing I have ever gone through. Although this was one of the darkest and most difficult times in my life, I’m extremely grateful for the experience because it taught me so much, and I grew so much through it. I don’t know what I would have done had I not been newly married and been a new dad. Would I have had the same strength to handle this as smoothly as I did? Would I have crumbled under the embarrassment? I’m not sure. All I know is that I had my wife and my family, and somehow we were going to make it through this. But it definitely was not easy and it’s something I will never go through again.
I filed for Bankruptcy in the beginning of 2011. Then on November 11, 2011, the bankruptcy was discharged, which basically means that it’s final. On November 11, 2011, I was completely broke and at a very low point in my life from a financial standpoint.
Beachbody Coach Life: From the Beginning
Ok, so enough of the somber stuff. Let’s get to the good part. Like I said, sometimes it’s hard to remember what life was like prior to being a Beachbody Coach in comparison to the life we live now. When I first started as a Beachbody Coach, I had two very specific personal goals that I wanted to achieve. The first was I wanted to be a Million Dollar Beachbody Coach. But, my first goal was really just a tangible number that I needed to have to support my real goal. My real and ultimate goal was to be able to do what I want, when I want, and with who I want for the rest of my life. I wanted to be able to live life on my terms and not have to answer to “the man.” I wanted to be the boss of my life and design it how I liked it.
So, away I went at working at my goal with clarity, focus, and discipline. Somehow, some way, I was fortunate enough to meet some great mentors along the way and remain focused through the good times and the bad times. Somehow, some way, I knew that it was possible for me.
A message I received from Jeff Hill, Senior Vice President of Beachbody
Just three years after going through that whole bankruptcy ordeal, I woke up in the morning, opened my Facebook account and saw that I was tagged on a post in a private Facebook page.
I learned that I had become the 43rd Million Dollar Beachbody earner out of 185,000 coaches! I literally had no idea that I had reached this goal let alone done so in such a brief period of time.
That goal to become a Million Dollar earner had become reality, and allowed me to live out my real goal of doing what I want, when I want, and with who I want. For me, it’s always been about family and freedom of time. Those are my real goals. One of the amazing benefits of building a business as a Beachbody Coach is you get the income but you also get the freedom of time. So you have money to accomplish the things you want, but you also have the time to be able to do them.
For me, life as a Beachbody Coach looks like this:
Each morning I wake up and spend time with my wife and five kids because I’m not in any rush at all. Then I drive my oldest daughter, Dakota, to school, walk her in, kiss her goodbye, and my heart is full. After that I head over to our local yoga studio, Sruti Yoga, and do my daily yoga practice. I come home and shower. My work day begins around 11am and I usually work until 4pm unless there is something going on and I might end a little earlier. I love to cook so from 4-5 I prepare dinner for the family. We all eat around 5-5:30 and then I spend the next 2 hours with my family just hanging out, reading, playing, maybe swimming at the lake, or maybe heading into town and getting ice cream. Then my wife and I put the kids to bed and that is usually finished up around 8:30. Then we spend the nights together.
I love it.
I love that I don’t have the stress, I love that I’m able to spend the time with my family and truly create the life that I envisioned for ourselves.
A Day in the Life as a Beachbody Coach
When we started to make good money with Beachbody, the first thing we did was decide where we really wanted to live. For us, it was the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Here, we enrolled our children in an amazing private school that is totally in line with how we parent and how we want to raise them. My wife, Amy, and I follow a Native American spiritual path, and our community is centered around town. Previously, we had been traveling almost 2 hours to come out and pray with them. The town and community are everything that we have ever wanted plus more, and having the ability to live wherever we want allowed us to live where there is no “big city” and not as many jobs. Since I work from home, it doesn’t matter where we live.
I take the majority of the summer off from work as we travel a ton! Each summer we rent a house on Cape Cod for 2-3 weeks and we also travel to Arizona and South Dakota for ceremony as part of our spiritual path.
When someone asks me what life is like as an Independent Beachbody Coach, I answer them in two ways. I share my story like I did above, but then I remind them that this is only my story. There are so many other Coaches who have so many rewarding stories but the theme is the same. They are doing what they want, when they want, and with who they want. What life is REALLY like as a Beachbody Coach is FREEDOM. You have the freedom to live on your terms, to write your story, and to live your life proactively and on purpose, rather than reacting to pay the bills to get by.
I can’t imagine going back to the way our lives once were, feeling the constant struggle to get by, the constant feeling of my back being up against the wall. If you’re considering Coaching, that is what we really have to offer. Sure the products like P90X, Insanity, T25, 21 Day Fix, PIYO, Shakeology, etc. are amazing and life changing, but for me it’s the ability to do all that and more, more of what I really want out of life, the ability to live my dream.
