[INTRODUCTION]

KC:   Welcome to The Business of Life Podcast. My name is Keith Callahan, your host.

Today, I want to talk to you about having an anchor in your life. What do I mean by that? So having an anchor really is about – it’s about having the ability to ground yourself in, having the ability to stay when the winds of chaos are happening around you.

So it could be your emotions are all over the place. It could be that your mind is kind of going crazy. We have – one of the things that I’ve learned is we don’t have the ability to stop the thoughts. There are just crazy thoughts that come in sometimes and there are crazy things that happen in our lives.

If we have an anchor, it allows us to stay present and not react when we’re in the middle of a storm. Some different types of anchors, so prayer and belief, and that’s really a deep, deep one for me. I have the blessing of an extremely active mind, a mind that’s just do, do, do. The thing is turning all the time. It’s turning. It’s going. It’s what allows me to come out with all this content on a daily basis. It’s what allows me to just create and envision and – yeah, I love it. But I also know that sometimes, it can turn out crazy thoughts of fear or of “I’m not enough,” or of – that’s really the two. It’s not really – for me, it’s not anger. It’s fear or it’s insecurity or stuff like that.

If I’m not anchored in my connection with God – and I’m going to use that word in this podcast and I know for some people, it’s like, “Ooh!” It gives you the willies. But for me, God is the universe. It’s that energy, that core, that something that is bigger than ourselves, right? So keep it that simple.

For me, if I’m not connected in that, if I’m not anchored in that, I can get caught up in the storm and get totally swept away, totally taken out or I can keep myself anchored.

When you first learn to meditate, what they talk to you about is an anchor and an anchor is something that you focus on. It could be looking at a candle. It could be your breath. It could be saying a mantra over and over. So in meditation, that’s an anchor and inevitably, our mind is going to cuckoo, especially when we first learned to meditate. The mind doesn’t slow down.

A lot of people have this misconception that with meditation, the goal is to stop the mind. It’s not to stop the mind. It’s to be able to hold steady with an anchor, while the mind is doing its own little chatter, or family could be an anchor for you.

I know when – whenever I travel and I’m away from home, my family is my anchor. I have them. They’re in my heart. They’re in my mind. They’re just deep down and it helps me to stay anchored. It helps me to stay centered while I’m away and your purpose, your purpose in life could be an anchor for you.

It helps to keep you grounded. It helps to keep you on the right path, if you’re anchored with your purpose in life. I just wanted to share a quick, little overview of that, because it has had such an impact on my life. My personal anchors have been my family, my purpose and my spiritual path. I know that whenever I have – especially with my spiritual path, my connection with the divine. Whenever I have not been putting in the consistent work of connecting with that anchor, of shining that anchor up, of making sure the chain is nice – you know, it’s there and it’s good and it’s going to – whenever I need to drop that anchor, it’s going to flow right down and yeah, for me, that connection is my anchor.

So what’s the anchor in your life? Do you have something that allows you to stay centered, allows you to stay grounded, allows you to be who you want to be when the storm comes? Because the storms are going to come, guys. What I equate with the storms, the storm is anything that takes you out of your comfort zone and it could be internal or external. It could just be a series of thoughts that start coming over you.

If you’re not anchored, you’re totally going to get swept away or it could be that you’re put in a new situation. You got a new job or you’re in this new situation and there’s this crazy wind of change, this crazy storm going around, on around you. Are you anchored in?

Does that make sense? Make sure you have something in your life that’s anchoring you down and make sure your anchor is who you want to be. Make sure your anchor is at the core of you. It’s also how you can make lasting change in your life. Drop that anchor.

All right. Have a beautiful, beautiful day. We will see you on the next episode.

[FINAL MESSAGE]

KC: Hey, Keith here, and today I have a free gift for you. Listen this free gift is a list of the 12 most influential books that I’ve ever read. These are the books that have helped me to create the mindset, learn the philosophies, learn the skills to really create this big, beautiful, life that we’re living now.

I read a crazy amount of books, I really do. I’ve probably read thousands of books and these are the top 12 books that – they’re the ones that I go to, they’re the ones that I work with over, and over, and over again. They are highlighted, outlined, dog-eared. And I put this list together for you because I want it to be a shortcut.

I don’t want you to have to – you don’t have to go out and read the thousands and thousands of books. These are the 12 that I highly recommend. I have a detailed review for each book, explaining why I recommend them, why I like them, when I worked with them in my life, what part of my life they helped me to improve.

So I put this together for you, and made it super each for you to get this list. All you have to do is send a text to the number 33444 and then in the body of that text, type in “12books” with no space. So that’s the number “12books”. Again, send the text message to the number, address it to 33444 and then type in “12books” as the message and just send that. And that’ll get you setup to receive those top 12 most influential books that have had the biggest impact on my life.

[SPONSOR MESSAGE]

KC: Today’s episode is brought to you by our sister podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. So All About Beachbody Coaching really allows us to do this podcast without having all those annoying commercials in the beginning for you. So All About Beachbody Coaching, the Beachbody business that Amy and I run, actually funds this podcast.

So yes, it does cost money to run this podcast, we do not charge you anything, we don’t throw in commercials or anything like that, it really is, it’s funded by our business and by our other podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. And for me, I’m just eternally grateful for this opportunity because it’s allowed me to really create the life that I love to live.

It’s given me the opportunity to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, and even deeper than that, it’s allowed me to help others to create the same for themselves. It’s allowed me to help hundreds of other people become part time or full time Beachbody coaches, to leave that corporate 9 to 5 job and create passive income in their lives.

And really there’s nothing like that. It’s cool when you have success, it’s so much more rewarding when you help others. So I mention this or a few reasons, the first reason is, that’s actually the way that I work with people and mentor people. I don’t do anything outside of Beachbody coaching because I know that it’s such a powerful life changing tool.

So if you’re curious about working with me, interested in working one-on-one, interested in creating the type of life that you wanna live, I suggest swinging over there. The other reason is, even if somebody’s just curious, like you’ve heard about Beachbody, you know there’s a lot of Beachbody coaches out there. Maybe some of them you get a little annoyed with.

It really dives into what this business is really about, which is life transformation. So if you’re just curious, swing over there. And then the other piece is, if you’re really considering becoming a Beachbody coach, I highly, highly recommend you listen to that first.

Alright, much love guys. Again, that is the All About Beachbody Coaching Podcast, our sister podcast.

ANNOUNCER: Thank you for listening to the Business of Life Podcast. Apply what you learned today and you’ll be one step closer to creating the life you love to live.
