[INTRODUCTION]

KC:  Welcome to The Business of Life Podcast. My name is Keith Callahan, your host. And today’s topic is finishing what you started. And I will be honest I am probably the worst person to be giving this or speaking this topic, teaching this topic because this is a massive, massive struggle for me. But it’s something that I’m constantly focusing in on and something that I am always working on.

I am the type of person that I’ll go– I’ll go all out 110% for 90% of the time. And then for some reason in the end, I just, I flop. I like any– it’s like this invisible force that just stops me and I can’t go any further. And that used to be my pattern in life. It was my pattern over and over and over. I didn’t finish things all the way.

And one of the reasons that I’m so passionate about Beachbody and the company, I… when I turned 30 years old, nine years ago. So I turned 30 years old and me and a few friends decided to do a little at home fitness program called P90X. I honestly thought that I knew everything about fitness and everything about working out. And P90X was 90-day fitness routine. And I decided that I was going to do it 100%, I was going to do the whole thing. I was going to follow the diet for 90 days and I was going to follow the workouts for 90 days. And it was hard in the beginning. It was real hard in the beginning. But then I started a little bit of momentum you know after the first month, I started to get a little bit of momentum. I started to feel good. I started to lose some weight. I started to feel healthy and vibrant.

We got all the way to the end to the last two weeks. It’s a 13-week program and I was on week 12. And I didn’t want to do it anymore. The alarm clock would go off in the morning and I would dread it. Like this just– this force. It was like this force field and it’s my pattern, so my pattern in life, I’m at this point again and I just you know these are hour-long workouts. And I remember every second of those workouts for those last two weeks was excruciating. I actually remember during one of the yoga, so they have an hour-and–half yoga in P90X. And I would do the full hour and a half.

And for those of you who haven’t done yoga, what yoga can do is it can really– it can get you into, into your emotions. And especially they have a lot of like hip openers and the stretching part in the end. So a lot of yoga classes, the first half is building power especially we para– that is vinyasa or power yoga. So, the first half is like more like holding positions, more strength building positions, more building the fire. And then the second half is more surrender type positions and opening up.

And I remember literally, I broke down crying one day in one of the– in my living room. I had this little one-bedroom house on a lake. And I remember totally remember that and yeah, broke down. But I kept going and I finished that day and then I finished that day and then I finished the next thing. And I remember after 90 days the feeling of accomplishment. The feeling of starting what I finished. No, [Laughter] finishing what I started. It was just an amazing, amazing feeling because it was so hard.

And the power that came in, it wasn’t because I finished this workout. It wasn’t because I did this workout. It wasn’t because I got in great shape. It was because I finished something that was really hard. And now, one of the things that I focus on in my life is I have certain things, certain principles that I focus in on when I am like for the year. And for the year of 2016, it was simplifying and stabilizing. You probably heard that a few times on this podcast now, simplifying and stabilizing.

But at the end of the year, towards the end of the year, I started waning from it. I wanted to start working on the principles for 2017. And I kept reminding myself, OK, what do we– like let’s continue to tighten up. What needs to be simplified? What needs to be stabilized? in my personal life with my family, with my wife, with my business, with my spiritual practice. That was my philosophy and mantra. Our family’s philosophy and mantra for all of 2016 and really finishing I, you know. Halfway through November, I was ready to move on to the next thing.

So there you go, finish what it is that you start all the way through for so many more reasons really that stabilizer that it is, that sense of accomplishment, that trust in yourself that you’re going to stick with something all the way through the end.

All right. Have a beautiful, beautiful day. Peace!

[FINAL MESSAGE]

KC: Hey, Keith here, and today I have a free gift for you. Listen this free gift is a list of the 12 most influential books that I’ve ever read. These are the books that have helped me to create the mindset, learn the philosophies, learn the skills to really create this big, beautiful, life that we’re living now.

I read a crazy amount of books, I really do. I’ve probably read thousands of books and these are the top 12 books that – they’re the ones that I go to, they’re the ones that I work with over, and over, and over again. They are highlighted, outlined, dog-eared. And I put this list together for you because I want it to be a shortcut.

I don’t want you to have to – you don’t have to go out and read the thousands and thousands of books. These are the 12 that I highly recommend. I have a detailed review for each book, explaining why I recommend them, why I like them, when I worked with them in my life, what part of my life they helped me to improve.

So I put this together for you, and made it super each for you to get this list. All you have to do is send a text to the number 33444 and then in the body of that text, type in “12books” with no space. So that’s the number “12books”. And that’ll get you setup to receive those top 12 most influential books that have had the biggest impact on my life.

[SPONSOR MESSAGE]

KC: Today’s episode is brought to you by our sister podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. So All About Beachbody Coaching really allows us to do this podcast without having all those annoying commercials in the beginning for you. So All About Beachbody Coaching, the Beachbody business that Amy and I run, actually funds this podcast.

So yes, it does cost money to run this podcast, we do not charge you anything, we don’t throw in commercials or anything like that, it really is, it’s funded by our business and by our other podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. And for me, I’m just eternally grateful for this opportunity because it’s allowed me to really create the life that I love to live.

It’s given me the opportunity to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, and even deeper than that, it’s allowed me to help others to create the same for themselves. It’s allowed me to help hundreds of other people become part time or full time Beachbody coaches, to leave that corporate 9 to 5 job and create passive income in their lives.

And really there’s nothing like that. It’s cool when you have success, it’s so much more rewarding when you help others. So I mention this or a few reasons, the first reason is, that’s actually the way that I work with people and mentor people. I don’t do anything outside of Beachbody coaching because I know that it’s such a powerful life changing tool.

So if you’re curious about working with me, interested in working one-on-one, interested in creating the type of life that you wanna live, I suggest swinging over there. The other reason is, even if somebody’s just curious, like you’ve heard about Beachbody, you know there’s a lot of Beachbody coaches out there. Maybe some of them you get a little annoyed with.

It really dives into what this business is really about, which is life transformation. So if you’re just curious, swing over there. And then the other piece is, if you’re really considering becoming a Beachbody coach, I highly, highly recommend you listen to that first.

Alright, much love guys. Again, that is the All About Beachbody Coaching Podcast, our sister podcast.

ANNOUNCER: Thank you for listening to the Business of Life Podcast. Apply what you learned today and you’ll be one step closer to creating the life you love to live.
