[INTRODUCTION]

KC: Welcome to The Business of Life Podcast. My name is Keith Callahan, your host. And today I want to share with you an old story that – or it’s an old – just a way of looking at things. You’ve probably heard of this before. It’s called, “Is it a good thing or is it a bad thing?”

I’m totally going to botch this. I don’t remember – I’ve heard it a few different ways. So I’m just going to kind of tell it in my way and really just give an overview of it, not going to details of it, because I want to make a point at the end.

So, the story kind of goes like this. That there was a high school boy and he had just graduated high school and he was going to go into the military. He couldn’t get into the military because he had polio and one of his legs was shorter than the other.

He was so devastated by it. He was so devastated that he couldn’t get into the military. This was his lifelong dream and he would go to learn that the platoon that he was going to be in right when they – right when you got in – this was during World War Two. Everybody in the platoon was killed. Everybody.

Like, so you could look at it and say him not getting into the military, is it a good thing or a bad thing? And at first, he thought it was a bad thing. But then it turned out that it was a good thing. So anyway, there are all these life events that go on. So the next thing like he – because he didn’t get into the military, he gets into – he decides to go to college, gets into college, goes into economics, studies economics and gets this great job. But the job turns him into – not the type of person that he wants to be. He has success with it. So he starts getting a big ego. He starts thinking that he’s better than people and it leads to an emotional breakdown. So again was getting the job a good thing or a bad thing?

So you can see how it kind of piles up and each time that something that he thinks could be good could go either way. Something that he thinks could be bad could actually be good for him. So like I said, I’m going to totally botch that part of it. But you get the point, right? And the point of it is that we don’t know if something is a good thing or a bad thing in our life, because we don’t know how things are going to play out later on down the road.

I think that that’s a great way to live, taking the approach of you don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. But I think we can take it one step further and I’ve seen and had a few people in my life that I’ve been blessed to be around that everything is a good thing.

I heard a really cool saying in a Brian Tracy book. I read it and it has always stuck with me. It was about someone who called themselves a reverse paranoia. They believe that the world and everything around them was conspiring for their good. That everything was happening for their good.

I have a mentor of mine and I wouldn’t even say mentor. A spiritual leader that I’ve had the opportunity and been blessed enough to be around one on one and from a distance. So over the last 12 years had many opportunities to be with him one on one, to drive him around one on one.

Now what I want to share is something that I learned from him. So at one point in his life, he was about to be falsely convicted and sent to prison, sent to US prison. Leavenworth of all US prisons and if you know prisons, it’s no joke.

Falsely convicted and about to go to prison and the day before he was going to leave his family, he’s all upset. His wife is all upset. All of his people are all upset. He looked at them all and he said to them all, “Don’t worry about me. I’m going to the best possible spiritual school that I could ever go to.” These aren’t the exact words but the word he would use or what he was saying is God is putting me exactly where I need to be, to be able to learn, to be able to become more powerful, to be able to help our people even more, because when I go into prison, my spirit has to grow even stronger. So it doesn’t get broken there.

So this man is getting falsely convicted, going to prison for an undetermined amount of time and he’s telling the people not to worry about him because he’s not worried and he’s actually grateful because he’s in the best possible school he could ever be in.

What if each one of us thought about our lives and thought about the situations and thought about the things that were happening to us with that type of positive expectancy? How different would your life be? How empowered would you be?

Can you look at everything in your life as happening and being divinely placed there for you to grow through it? I used to hear something like that and I used to be like, “No, because some things aren’t good.” There’s a reality. Some things aren’t good.

You know what? When people say that God put it there or whatever, like God didn’t put it there. This is a – a not good thing that happened, right? And then I realized that my life and my life experiences are going to be determined by my consciousness. I can look at everything as a beautiful divinely-appointed thing and say this is here, this is here for a reason.

I can take that attitude with everything in my life or I can be bitter and resentful and not accept the things that happen to me. It’s a choice. It’s a simple, simple choice that each one of us has. It’s a muscle that we can exercise.

So I wanted to share that. And as you’re going about your life, can you have that reverse paranoia that everything is happening to you for a reason and it’s all perfect, it’s all beautiful, it’s all divine and it’s all for your highest good?

All right. Have a beautiful, beautiful day and I love you guys. Peace!

I read a crazy amount of books, I really do. I’ve probably read thousands of books and these are the top 12 books that – they’re the ones that I go to, they’re the ones that I work with over, and over, and over again. They are highlighted, outlined, dog-eared. And I put this list together for you because I want it to be a shortcut.

I don’t want you to have to – you don’t have to go out and read the thousands and thousands of books. These are the 12 that I highly recommend. [SPONSOR MESSAGE]

KC: Today’s episode is brought to you by our sister podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. So All About Beachbody Coaching really allows us to do this podcast without having all those annoying commercials in the beginning for you. So All About Beachbody Coaching, the Beachbody business that Amy and I run, actually funds this podcast.

So yes, it does cost money to run this podcast, we do not charge you anything, we don’t throw in commercials or anything like that, it really is, it’s funded by our business and by our other podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. And for me, I’m just eternally grateful for this opportunity because it’s allowed me to really create the life that I love to live.

It’s given me the opportunity to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, and even deeper than that, it’s allowed me to help others to create the same for themselves. It’s allowed me to help hundreds of other people become part time or full time Beachbody coaches, to leave that corporate 9 to 5 job and create passive income in their lives.

And really there’s nothing like that. It’s cool when you have success, it’s so much more rewarding when you help others. So I mention this or a few reasons, the first reason is, that’s actually the way that I work with people and mentor people. I don’t do anything outside of Beachbody coaching because I know that it’s such a powerful life changing tool.

So if you’re curious about working with me, interested in working one-on-one, interested in creating the type of life that you wanna live, I suggest swinging over there. The other reason is, even if somebody’s just curious, like you’ve heard about Beachbody, you know there’s a lot of Beachbody coaches out there. Maybe some of them you get a little annoyed with.

It really dives into what this business is really about, which is life transformation. So if you’re just curious, swing over there. And then the other piece is, if you’re really considering becoming a Beachbody coach, I highly, highly recommend you listen to that first.

Alright, much love guys. Again, that is the All About Beachbody Coaching Podcast, our sister podcast.

ANNOUNCER: Thank you for listening to the Business of Life Podcast. Apply what you learned today and you’ll be one step closer to creating the life you love to live.
