[INTRODUCTION]
KC: Welcome to The Business of Life Podcast. My name is Keith Callahan, your host. Today, we’re talking about the power of positive expectancy. I have to credit my good friend Greg Amundson for sharing this principle with me and reminding me of this principle. You can actually go and check out his podcast episode. I don’t know which one it was.
But I interviewed him about this principle, the power of positive expectancy. I want to start with two stories that – and really I think these two stories are going to be the full explanation, full – you get the full gist of it.
But I do not like going to the dentist. I really don’t like going to the dentist. It’s interesting. When I’m sitting here saying this right now, I went to the dentist yesterday, and maybe it’s because I just went yesterday and I don’t have to go for another six months. But I’m not having that like cringing feeling when I talk about it, which I usually do.
So anyway, yesterday, I had a dentist appointment at 11:30 in the morning and I did my normal day. I woke up and I did my – you know, spent the half hour at my altar, got centered, recorded my podcast yesterday, dropped my kids off at school, go and work out with a few of my buddies, come back here, did a little bit of work.
Then I got like an hour before the dentist appointment. Those feelings start coming up, like those anxious feelings and, you know, the crazy thoughts running through your mind. You know what I mean? If you have something you really don’t enjoy doing.
I’m just sitting there and I’m watching them and I – for me, whenever I’m in something, like I’m in an uncomfortable situation like that, I always get centered in my heart, centered with my connection with God. So that’s what’s I did. Then I was remembering what my friend Greg Amundson had taught, like the power of positive expectancy.
I just really switched to that. It wasn’t a – it was just something in my heart and I just – I don’t even know how to describe, how to do it. I think it’s just something that you do. It’s just a choice that you make and I was like this is going to be pleasant. I didn’t really get there. I was like this isn’t going to be that bad. Like, I make it way worse than it really is in my head.
It’s not going to be that bad and I felt myself start to settle when I said that and I sat with that and went to the dentist. We started chatting. I had a new hygienist. I hadn’t met her before and just that I had a great experience at the dentist. I say great with a little bit of hesitation. Great as far as dentist experience goes, but I expected that it was going to be all right and it was.
It was probably the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist and all I did was shift my expectancy. This morning, I was – it was funny. Creating content and coming up with content for a show or writing – like anytime – if you’ve ever created content, there’s sometimes the content just flows and flows and flows. Like right now, I’m recording two episodes every morning because we’re in a process of getting really ahead with these and sometimes I can rip out – I could sit there and do 10 episodes. Like, bam, bam, bam!
Then sometimes I sit there and I just – I can’t come up with content. So this morning was one of those mornings. I was – did my prayer at the altar and my mind is kind of going all over the place. I wasn’t that centered. I came upstairs. One of the other things that I do sometimes when I can’t really come up with topics is I will flip through some inspiring books that I like.
So I was flipping through Think and Grow Rich this morning and nothing. Usually I can flip through that and it will be like idea after idea and nothing this morning. So then I – I just sat and went back to that connection. You know, the – whether you call it a higher power or whatever you call it. I sat and I stopped trying to force things. I just shifted into a positive expectancy and I was like the right topic is going to come.
Literally, seconds after I shifted into it, it was like positive expectancy is your topic and how to do it and the story about the dentist yesterday and then this story that I’m sharing right now just came to me. So the power of shifting your mindset into positive expectancy, with everything that we do in life is just – it’s life-changing. So there you go. I’m going to leave you with those two stories. I’m not going to dive further into that principle. I’m just going to repeat the name, the principle of the power of positive expectancy.
All right. Have a beautiful, beautiful day. Peace!
[FINAL MESSAGE]
KC: Hey, Keith here, and today I have a free gift for you. Listen this free gift is a list of the 12 most influential books that I’ve ever read. These are the books that have helped me to create the mindset, learn the philosophies, learn the skills to really create this big, beautiful, life that we’re living now.
I read a crazy amount of books, I really do. I’ve probably read thousands of books and these are the top 12 books that – they’re the ones that I go to, they’re the ones that I work with over, and over, and over again. They are highlighted, outlined, dog-eared. And I put this list together for you because I want it to be a shortcut.
I don’t want you to have to – you don’t have to go out and read the thousands and thousands of books. These are the 12 that I highly recommend. I have a detailed review for each book, explaining why I recommend them, why I like them, when I worked with them in my life, what part of my life they helped me to improve.
So I put this together for you, and made it super each for you to get this list. All you have to do is send a text to the number 33444 and then in the body of that text, type in “12books” with no space. So that’s the number “12books”. [SPONSOR MESSAGE]
KC: Today’s episode is brought to you by our sister podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. So All About Beachbody Coaching really allows us to do this podcast without having all those annoying commercials in the beginning for you. So All About Beachbody Coaching, the Beachbody business that Amy and I run, actually funds this podcast.
So yes, it does cost money to run this podcast, we do not charge you anything, we don’t throw in commercials or anything like that, it really is, it’s funded by our business and by our other podcast, All About Beachbody Coaching. And for me, I’m just eternally grateful for this opportunity because it’s allowed me to really create the life that I love to live.
It’s given me the opportunity to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, and even deeper than that, it’s allowed me to help others to create the same for themselves. It’s allowed me to help hundreds of other people become part time or full time Beachbody coaches, to leave that corporate 9 to 5 job and create passive income in their lives.
And really there’s nothing like that. It’s cool when you have success, it’s so much more rewarding when you help others. So I mention this or a few reasons, the first reason is, that’s actually the way that I work with people and mentor people. I don’t do anything outside of Beachbody coaching because I know that it’s such a powerful life changing tool.
So if you’re curious about working with me, interested in working one-on-one, interested in creating the type of life that you wanna live, I suggest swinging over there. The other reason is, even if somebody’s just curious, like you’ve heard about Beachbody, you know there’s a lot of Beachbody coaches out there. Maybe some of them you get a little annoyed with.
It really dives into what this business is really about, which is life transformation. So if you’re just curious, swing over there. And then the other piece is, if you’re really considering becoming a Beachbody coach, I highly, highly recommend you listen to that first.
Alright, much love guys. Again, that is the All About Beachbody Coaching Podcast, our sister podcast.
ANNOUNCER: Thank you for listening to the Business of Life Podcast. Apply what you learned today and you’ll be one step closer to creating the life you love to live.
